Levelling Up: How half an hour a week can level up your personal LinkedIn

Are you overlooking your personal LinkedIn? You might think LinkedIn is just for job hunting, but it's so much more! Building a strong personal brand on LinkedIn is not just beneficial for you, but it also boosts your company’s credibility. But we get it, in amongst your already chaotic schedule, LinkedIn likely gets shoved to the bottom of the pile. In this blog we break down a simple weekly schedule that should only take you 30 minutes per week to execute.

If you’re an employer reading this, you might wonder, “What’s in it for me?” Here’s the answer: everything. When your employees build strong personal brands, it’s not just beneficial for them—it’s a big win for your company too. It enhances your companies credibility, visibility and positions your workplace as desirable to other talent.

Now, onto the good stuff. We are going to keep the remainder of this blog to the point and focused - in our experience, common barriers to entry to those we talk to surrounding LinkedIn are:

  1. They don't know what to post

  2. They don't have a clear understanding of activity required to gain and maintain momentum

Heres the not to secret and very simple formula...

Weekly action plan:

Now that you know why and what to post, let’s break it down into a simple weekly action plan that won’t take more than 30 minutes:

  • Connect with 5 new people

  • Share 1 post

  • Engage with 5 posts

  • Write 1 thoughtful/intentional comment *cough cough prospect

  • Share 1 company page post

And some content catalysts to get you started:

  • Industry insights and trends you’re observing.

  • Lessons learned from recent projects or challenges.

  • Key takeaways from a book, podcast, or webinar.

  • Reflections on a recent conference or event you attended.

  • Personal career milestones or achievements.

  • Thought-provoking questions related to your industry.

  • Behind-the-scenes look at your workday or workspace.

  • A brief case study or success story from your work.

  • Sharing a helpful tool or resource you’ve found valuable.

  • Encouraging words or advice for early-career professionals.

  • Celebrating a client's success or partnership.

  • A poll asking for opinions on a relevant topic.

  • Discussing the impact of a recent industry news event.

  • Updates on new skills or certifications you’ve earned.
