Levelling Up: Pre-agency checklist

So, you think you’re ready to onboard an agency?

Taking the plunge into the agency world is a big step! Whether you're a small business exploring new horizons or you've realised that your in-house marketing just isn't cutting it anymore, it's an exciting time. But before you dive in headfirst, there's something we need to talk about—don't make the mistake of trying to run before you've learnt to walk.

Marketing has a lot of moving parts, and to make sure you’re getting the most out of your partnership, we’ve put together a little checklist to help you hit the ground running.

1. Get clear on your goals and objectives

First things first—what do you want to achieve with your marketing efforts? Are you aiming for sales growth, lead generation, or brand awareness? Knowing this will guide your strategy and help set measurable goals. Ask yourself, "What KPIs matter most to my business?" These will be your benchmarks for success.

2. Organise your brand assets

Gather everything that represents your brand. This includes your logo, branding guidelines, website, landing pages and even the tone of voice you want your business to convey. Think of this as the face you’re going to show the world—it needs to be consistent and clear.

3. Set a budget

It’s important to have an idea of the budget you’re willing to allocate for marketing. This will cover things like photoshoots (yes, you’re going to need them!), giveaways, and other promotional activities. A clear budget ensures that both you and your agency know what’s possible.

4. Establish open communication

This might be the most important point of all. Open, honest communication is key to a successful relationship with your marketing team. Share your ideas, provide feedback, and voice your thoughts regularly. The first few months are crucial for aligning your visions and making adjustments as needed. Remember, this is a long-term partnership.

Completing this checklist will help ensure you’re fully prepared to collaborate effectively with your marketing agency, setting the stage for a successful partnership. Let’s make sure your journey into the agency world is as smooth and rewarding as possible!
